SAWH Blais / Roberge Book Award
This
award was developed in honor of Mr. Blais who began
the very first South Attleboro
football team when we played against neighborhood
kids. The other name on the award was given
on behalf of Brett Roberge, who died in a car accident
in 1999. Brett played for the SAWH when he was
a young kid. The intention of SAWH was to give
a $500.00 award to two athletes from our organization
(boy/girl) that showed leadership skills, dedication,
and responsibility on and off the field. The
board decided to call upon a great supporter of SAWH,
Mr. Bailey Long and other members of the Lions Club.
Each applicant had a number, the six panel team
read each essay and gave each other their own score;
1-lowest 6-highest. It was a great system.
After all was done they had two winners.
